Arranges for the efficient and orderly charging of individuals who have hospital based outpatient/inpatient testing or procedures. Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters charges and/or information required for admission into computer database. Schedules outpatient and inpatient procedures using information provided by physicians offices taking into consideration patient preps, study contraindications, room/tech availbility and study length. Performs pre-registration process by obtaining patient demographics and physician order. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Creates and maintains the patient medical record. Participates in the filing and support of the Health Information Management Area. Completes other duties as assigned. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
