    Responsibilities

    • Identifies material sources by contacting and qualifying suppliers/vendors.
    • Setting and maintaining reasonable PAR levels.
    • Creating and maintaining bin locations.
    • Properly disburses all materials to various locations in the facility.
    • Fills requisitions from those departments not automatically replenished.
    • Forwards information pertaining to critical back-order situations to the Materials Manager or Materials Coordinator/Buyer.
    • Sets delivery assignments for various departments to ensure that the proper quantity of materials is delivered at the proper time.
    • Maintains all equipment utilized in transporting materials in a manner that ensures reliable and safe operation.
    • Obtains materials by preparing and placing requests, monitoring, expediting and verifying delivery.
    • Purchases materials by obtaining pricing and delivery schedule; preparing and forwarding purchase order(s) for approval, issuing purchase orders.
    • Helps to complete tasks in the materials function that are not within job description. Renders self available when responsibilities have been met to assist in areas that may require assistance within the materials function.
    • Delivers materials to assigned department(s) or proper storage area(s) within the hospital.
    • Pre-codes and submits suggested orders for inventory in an expeditious manner.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the overall function of the Materials Management Department.
    • Maintains all areas of materials storage in a neat and organized manner.
    • Understands how to prioritize responsibilities to ensure completion of duties in a time efficient manner. Performs any duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.
    • Adheres to Performance Standards and Professional Requirements as outlined in the Performance Standards Handbook.
    • Additional duties assigned.
    • Utilizes Relationship based care by consistently placing personal relationships between caregivers, patients/families and self at the center of care delivery. Every employee at THCDS is a caregiver.

    Qualifications

    • HS Diploma or equivalent
    • 1 - 3 years experience in field
    • Previous Purchasing / Buying experience in a hospital setting preferred
