    Responsibilities

    Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and/or physician.  Assist patients with activities of daily living care, provides comfort and promotes patient safety, in a clean and healthy environment. Competency will be maintained in accordance with criteria defined by the National Association of Health Care Assistants.

     

    • Provides general nursing care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, transferring patients and assisting patients with ambulation.
    • Notifies Registered Nurse if patient complains of pain, or nausea and vomiting
    • Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight and intake-output and notifies the Registered Nurse if they are not within normal limits.
    • Prepares patients for meals; serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds patient if necessary.
    • Answers patient call lights, makes hourly rounds to assigned patients.
    •  Demonstrates the ability to write clear, concise notes, simple charting that reflects patient care given. Maintains accurate information on the patient dry erase boards – inpatient rooms.
    • Orients new staff members to the patient care unit.
    • Assist the Registered nurse in the ER, when needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • High School graduate or equivalent. Additional specialized training in nursing care.
    • Minimum of two (2) years experience.
    • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification within three (3) months of hire date.
    • May require certification as a Certified Nurse Technician (CNT) in the state of Texas.
