Provides direct patient care that ranges from infant through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, and aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Care given reflects initiative and responsibility reflecting professional practice guidelines. Communicates and collaborates with the surgeon and anesthesiologist regarding changes in the patient’s condition in order to promote positive patient outcomes. Intercedes to maintain optimum homeostasis. Competency will be maintained in accordance with criteria defined by the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN).
