Provides indirect patient care in the pre-operative and/or pain management setting.  Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, department staff and medical staff.  Prepares and compiles records.  Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff.  Participates in performance improvement activities.  Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies and procedures and standards.
  • Reception duties
  • Provide clerical, secretarial and data entry
  • Initiates all aspects of discharges/transfers
  • Assists the nursing staff as needed with non-medical tasks
  • Demonstrates the ability to accurately and efficiently organize patient charts
  • Transcribes information from one source to another with a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using the computer, e.g., printing labels, schedules, etc.
  • Prepares daily Specials schedules and distributes to appropriate departments
  • Assists in maintaining the patient call log book (writing call back sheets, correct phone numbers, pulling cancelled cases)


  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Current BLS certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • CPSI software experience preferred
