This position is designed to develop a valued technical expert, who can deliver work on a consistent basis. 

Responsibilities

Transports, distributes and delivers labs, specimens, medical equipment, etc., throughout this facility and the related medical complex.  Performs phlebotomy as needed. Assist nursing staff with laboratory tests. Competency will be maintained in accordance with criteria defined by CAP and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

  • Observes specimens for appropriate identification, condition, collection and transport to ensure accurate results are obtained
  • Assures instrumentation/lab tests are performing as expected to produce accurate, reliable results.
  • Understands when to question results, and takes appropriate action. Understands when results need to be communicated immediately to the caregiver.
  • Assists in providing competency testing and training for all individuals who perform point of care testing, and in monitoring compliance of those individuals.
  • Assists in implementation of new/revised laboratory tests including new and procedural updates. 
  • Assist pathologist as needed.
  • Perform venipuncture as needed.
  • Maintain adequate supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • More than 1 year general laboratory experience including phlebotomy
